Fairer Scotland Duty – Devices deployed originally through period of pandemic to children and families identified as having poverty related barrier resulting in digital exclusion.

Give details of the impact it has on groups and individuals.

  • Cessation of this contract may result in a period of time where digital network access will be affected for families within their homes.
  • Children and young people of 5-18 and care experienced young people will be the groups affected.

What actions / measures will be put in place or are planned to mitigate any adverse impact or promote equality?

  • Interim period of communication to affected groups, signposting to alternative locations of free WiFi access.
  • The device will remain with the young person who can continue its use to support learning.
  • Reassessment of need.
  • Engagement with council supplier for reduced number of MyFi devices for reissuing based on identified need.
