Community benefits are contractual clauses that can be used to build a range of economic, social or environmental conditions into the delivery of public contracts.
We are committed to maximising the benefits to our communities from our procurement activity by ensuring local communities benefit from our investment and expenditure activity where possible.
Our New Build Social Housing contracts “New Supply Programme”, which aims to provide 5,000 new affordable homes by 2035, generate construction-related community benefits within each project for the local community through targeted training, employment and social value investment.
These benefits include:
- helping to boost local employment by creating jobs, where possible
- creating educational and skills opportunities such as apprenticeships and work experience
- support for local initiatives
Examples of these are outlined in the following pages.
