We delivered the opportunity for 48 individuals from local groups/CVS organisations who are actively involved in our LOIP subgroups in Motherwell and Bellshill the chance to take part in Naloxone Training. Turning point offered this training free of charge and the only costs associated were the hall hire and light hospitality.
The training covers overdose awareness – both stimulants and depressants – and concludes with training on how to administer naloxone. After the training, naloxone kits are provided, either to be collected from the Turning Point. Naloxone comes in the form of a yellow box with a pre-loaded syringe inside. Turning point also cover basic CPR for that may assist in these types of incidents.
Providing this training built the capacity of local groups and organisations in the Motherwell and Bellshill area. Particularly those working with vulnerable groups of people especially within the recovery community.
As this training was free we have been supporting other organisations within the two areas to book the training course for their own organisation.
This work contributes to LOIP Priorities
Community Safety
This training contributed to the LOIP Priority because this gave volunteers and staff within the community the skills and knowledge to administer Naloxone.
