The North Lanarkshire Mòd Committee has been recognised on the national stage after winning a prestigious Adult Learners’ Gaelic Award, celebrating their outstanding contribution to Gaelic learning, culture and community engagement.

A sod cutting took place at Laburnum Road, Viewpark, marking another council housing project on site delivering new homes for the local community.

The new learning hub supporting young people across North Lanarkshire with vocational education and life skills is already having a significant impact on their lives.

The council leader has welcomed plans for an £8.2 billion investment and the creation of up to 7,000 jobs in the wider region, following a UK Government announcement naming Lanarkshire as the latest UK AI Growth Zone.

The council and NHS Lanarkshire will submit a planning application in early 2026 for sections of link road that will advance the delivery of the East Airdrie Link Road and also give a second access to the new University Hospital Monklands at Wester Moffat, Airdrie.
