A new play area has been officially opened in Bogside Park, Kilsyth.
Residents from Bogside, Kirklands and Barrie Place Tenants and Resident Association and local school children worked with our Community Partnership Team to develop the plans for the park.
A total of £80,000 funding from the council’s Local Development Programme was allocated to upgrade the park, which includes a variety of play equipment including swings, a zip line, slide, balance beam and a climbing frame.
Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of the Communities Committee, joined local people, pupils from Kilsyth and St Patrick’s Primary Schools and local elected members to officially open the new park.
“This has been a great partnership project between the council and local residents, working together to design and create a fantastic new facility for Kilsyth,” said Councillor Woods.
“It provides a fun environment for children of different ages, and seating for families to meet up. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
A design for the new park sign was chosen after a competition run by both school – winner Louise Carberry from Kilsyth Primary School and runner up Niamh Fury from St Patricks Primary School both received a gift voucher provided by the project contractor, Kompan.
