NL Digital School

Who are we?

We are the NL Digital School and our aim is to provide high quality digital learning experiences for all children and young people across North Lanarkshire. We are made up of a team of Digital Pedagogy Practitioners whose role is to support staff and learners in the delivery of Digital Literacy Skills and Computing Science from 3 to 18 years old.

What do we do?

We can come to your school to deliver minimum blocks of learning on a variety of digital-based topics. Our sessions can range from 1 to 4 weeks (depending on availability). We also have an online learning area on Microsoft Teams with a variety of resources and projects to support learners.

What is our session about?

Our session(s) can be focused on the needs of the young people and are designed to be tailored to what interests them. Some of the areas we would deliver on are:

  • game design through Scratch
  • python coding
  • animation using Scratch
  • stop-motion animation
  • Micro:Bit programming
  • content creation – creating videos and presentations
  • digital music creation
  • using green screen

What will you gain from attending?

Young people who attend can experience some taster sessions in digital areas that they may not get the opportunity to do throughout the school year. They will also get access to an online digital learning community via Microsoft Teams and NL Virtual Classroom that will allow them to continue to enhance these skills.
