Garden Assistance Scheme
What is the policy/strategy/function/ trying to achieve/do?
The Garden Assistance scheme provides a service that assists elderly and disabled tenants and residents of North Lanarkshire with the maintenance of the garden area at their home. This assists in enabling people who would otherwise be unable to maintain the garden area at their property to continue living independently in the community for a longer period of time.
If this is a budget saving, how will the saving be achieved?
N/A – this scheme/service does not provide budget savings.
Give details of the impact it has on groups and individuals
This service will potentially have a positive impact on people of pension age and above and people with long-term health conditions and disabilities as it will provide them with assistance to maintain the garden area at their properties and will potentially allow them to remain living in their accommodation in the community for a longer period of time. It may also have an impact on carers as it may have a positive impact in respect of their caring responsibilities. The service will not have any impact specifically on any of the other groups of people within the community.
What actions/measures will be put in place or are planned to mitigate any adverse impact or promote equality?
There will be no adverse impact from the provision of this service.
What is the result/ recommendations of the EqIA?
The Garden Assistance scheme should continue to be provided to elderly/disabled tenants/residents of North Lanarkshire.
