Kilsyth and Villages Local Outcome Improvement Plan Highlights

Community Engagement – Cost of Living Event Kilsyth Primary School

A Cost of Living event was held in Kilsyth Primary School in line with the Kilsyth and Villages Local Outcome Improvement Plan.

How did the project come about?

Food and Financial Insecurity is a Local Outcome Improvement Plan (LOIP) priority across Kilsyth and Villages.  This event provided an opportunity for partners to engage with parents and carers of young people who attend Kilsyth Primary School.

The LOIP Food and Financial Insecurity subgroup made up of a range of partners, agreed to organise Cost of living events rotated across Kilsyth and Villages to ensure information and supports are available to local people to help them cope with the Cost-of-living crisis.  This event was one of a series of events across the Community Board area.

This event was targeted towards Parents and Carers of children who attend Kilsyth Primary School and was arranged through discussions with the Head Teacher within the school.

The Community Partnership Team distributed soup packs with recipe’s to approximately 50 families during the event. Period Dignity products were also distributed during the event whilst organisations provided information about their services and the supports they can provide.

What was the outcome?

Approximately 50 families had the opportunity to access information and advice and resources to assist them to deal with food and financial insecurity.

35 people, 27 females and 8 males, provided feedback about the event.  All 35 thought the event was great.

One pupil fedback that the event was ‘Amazing, everyone was so nice and handed out lots of amazing gifts and It taught me more than I knew’

Feedback from organisations identified that information provided included short breaks for carers, advice on how to access services, advice on social security benefits and debt, information on how to access free period dignity products and stop smoking services.
