Supplementary Planning Guidance and guidance for housing developments
The North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan contains a range of land use policies. Some new guidance is required to support the plan but the current Supplementary Planning Guidance listed below remains in force, with the exception of references to North Lanarkshire Local Plan Policies. This guidance will be updated or replaced to reflect new policies.

This guidance aims to help you understand the key issues and the way development proposals will be assessed.
The topics covered by the guidance range from good practice with house extensions and shopfront security, to major issues like flood management and wind farms.
It also provides checklists for good practice and sets out how we will assess planning applications against the issues raised.
Approved guidance is treated by us as a material consideration. This means it will be relevant and important when we are considering particular planning applications.
