Ravenscraig Active Travel Links

Meadowhead Road to O’Donnell Way

At just over 1km in length, this route runs from the ‘The Castings’ housing development on the southern edge of Ravenscraig to ‘The Craig’ public park and Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on O’Donnell Way.

The path was constructed with funding from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) and the Scottish Government through their Vacant and Derelict Land Fund and Placed Based Investment Programme.

The cycle/footpath is set within a landscape corridor with lighting, CCTV and seating.

Features to encourage children to play and explore nature as they travel along the path include, wander paths, balancing beams, stepping stones and boulders to climb.

Selective tree felling has opened up the route through the woods by Meadowhead Bridge and areas of native woodland have been planted together with wildflower areas to enhance biodiversity and improve habitat for wildlife.
