Our new Local Development Plan

Our new Local Development Plan

We have now started to prepare the next Local Development Plan - North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan 2 (NLLDP2).

The LDP is an important document that sets out the policies and proposals for land use and development in North Lanarkshire.

It will set out the future for development, for example, it says where new housing, shops, business and industry premises, leisure facilities and roads can be built and, importantly, where they can’t. It also protects our greenspaces.

The plan impacts on all aspects of our lives – towns and villages, open spaces and parks, business and industry, play areas and sport, culture, transport, homes, infrastructure, green belts, climate change and biodiversity, tourism, flood risk and more.

It will guide decisions on planning applications in your community and across North Lanarkshire.

The timeline for the preparation of the Plan is set out in the Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement, with the adoption of NLLDP2 expected in 2027.
