Land supply

We monitor the use of of land that can be developed across North Lanarkshire and carry out regular surveys of the area to do this. This is called 'Monitoring'.

We collect information to inform our plans and policies

The surveys allow us to identify trends in the development of land and ensure that our plans and policies reflect the most up-to-date land supply position.

Most surveys take place annually and focus on a number of key land uses to ensure that there is sufficient land available to meet our needs.

The information collected also allows us to assess whether there is an appropriate range of opportunities for new development within North Lanarkshire.

We monitor and identify land and property available for development which is set out in the Local Development Plan.

Land use monitoring does not deal with council land or property for sale.
