Scottish Labour Party candidate Helen Loughran has been elected to serve as an elected member in Ward 14 Thorniewood of North Lanarkshire Council, following a by-election on Thursday 04 March.
The number of first preference votes polled for each candidate was:
- Oyebola Ajala, Scottish Conservative and Unionist – 212
- Jospeh Budd, Independent - 518
- Eve Cunnington, Scottish National Party (SNP) – 944
- Daryl Gardner, UKIP - 15
- Helen Loughran, Scottish Labour Party – 998
- Rosemary McGowan, Scottish Green Party – 53
Total of first preference votes: 2,740
The percentage poll was 25.4% and the electoral quota was 1,371.
29 ballot papers were rejected.
