Advice and support on services for children and families

Intensive support for children and young people

For children, young people (including care experienced) and their families

Intensive Services

Intensive Services is of a range of services that deliver support at the intensive level of the GIRFEC pathway and consists of:

  • Families First
  • Community Alternatives
  • Youth Bridges
  • Family Group Decision-Making & Lifelong Links
  • Aftercare Hub

What do we do?

We aim to support children and young people to thrive in their families and local communities.

We are absolutely committed to keeping families together whenever possible by providing a range of support which is flexible, responsive and relationship-based to promote better outcomes for all.

Intensive services will listen to children, young people and families to ensure they are fully involved in their support.

Youth Bridges is a small service that supports young people while in Polmont Young Offenders Institution and their transition back to the community. Young people are supported through diversionary work and interventions to reduce the likelihood of re-offending.

The Aftercare Hub works with care leavers who are eligible for throughcare and aftercare support. The staff from the aftercare hub can work alongside locality workers where intensive support is required or individually when care leavers reconnect with the service to co-ordinate Pathway Planning, termed My Future Planning in NL. The staff from the hub work flexibly with care leavers to help co-ordinate support around housing, money matters, health, training and employment, lifestyle and important people to support care leavers to achieve their goals.

Who is the service for?

Our service is for children, young people (including care experienced) and their families, aged from pre-birth up until age 26 years.

The person-centred support can take many shapes and include:

  • individual work
  • group work
  • family work
  • practical, emotional, educational and health interventions

You will be treated with respect and understanding from a service which is committed to keeping families together.
