Door entry systems
For tenants who currently live in blocks of flats, our 2025/26 programme for installing door entry systems will involve blocks either where there are significant issues or no door entry system already in place.
Many blocks in our programme of door entry replacement also contain owner-occupiers or private landlords.
Smoke detectors
Our homes are checked every year as part of our electrical and gas safety checks to make sure they have working smoke detectors. All homes are now fitted with inter-linked smoke detectors and heat alarms.
Solar PV Panels
Our Solar PV programme will continue throughout 2025/2026. If your home is to have solar PV installed this financial year, our contractor will write to you before the work is due to start. Installation process will be explained during the technical survey with internal works arranged accordingly to ensure disturbance for our tenants is kept to a minimum.
If you are having Solar PV fitted, you should be aware we do not pay a disturbance allowance after the works are completed.
Rewiring homes
The majority of tenants had their homes rewired to current standards as part of our kitchen and bathroom replacement programmes.
There are a number of tenants’ homes that have not been rewired as part of these works or through a previous rewiring programme and with the use of electrical appliances having grown over the years, older wiring systems may be working near or beyond their capacity.
In 2019, we approved a plan to visit tenants in properties that, according to our records, had not been rewired previously to bring them up to current standards.

Disturbance allowance
If your home is rewired or has the wiring upgraded, you are entitled to a disturbance allowance payment.
This is paid by cheque and automatically issued to you approximately four weeks after works have been signed off as completed by a member of staff.
