Project update
On 10 May 2024, our Enterprise and Fair Work committee approved removing Ravenscraig (North) - dualling of the existing A723 from our City Deal projects.
This was approved at Glasgow City Region Cabinet on 6 August 2024. Funding for this project will now go to the Ravenscraig (South) and East Airdrie Link Road projects instead.

Upgrading three kilometers of the A723 to provide a dual carriageway and shared footway/cycleway from the New Craig Road junction at Ravenscraig to the M8 at Holytown.

Planning permission was granted in 2013 with a new road-under-rail-bridge at Carfin constructed shortly after, in 2014, to accommodate the southbound lanes of the proposed dual carriageway,
If delivered, the RAI North project will provide a dual the carriageway and cycle/footways with associated drainage and street lighting.
