A new website working to support families on low incomes, looking for work and their wellbeing is now live.
As well as providing advice and signposting to partners and services, the new website www.workingforfamilies.co.uk also has a dedicated team on hand. The team provides free, confidential support to help parents and families across North Lanarkshire increase household income, access funding for and advice about childcare and help to improve wellbeing and learn new skills.
We’re encouraging parents to refer themselves, which can be done easily, to receive the help on hand to get them and their family on track.
The website contains key information including:
-
Finding flexible, family-friendly employment
-
Advice to increase working hours and pay
-
Advice and funding for childcare
-
Tailored support and access to employability programmes
-
Help to improve wellbeing and to learn new skills.
Convener of Wellbeing and Tackling Poverty Committee, Councillor Geraldine Woods said: “The Working for Families website is an excellent resource aimed at meeting the needs of families who may be experiencing challenges with childcare, work or isolation. With access to a range of partners and services which can provide that vital help with training, childcare, transport or social health problems, it’s dedicated to and supporting families across our communities.
“It can be difficult and sometimes daunting to overcome some of the barriers in place to finding work or childcare and we’d encourage parents to take the first step and get in touch via the new website.
“Our Tackling Poverty Strategy is dedicated to supporting those who need it most. And, together with our partners, this new website reaffirms our commitment to helping families increase their income and addressing in-work poverty.”
The new website is supported by funding from the Scottish Government, Tackling Child Poverty under No One Left Behind.
