A treasure trail around Strathclyde Country Park and Hamilton Palace Grounds has been launched to mark Clean Air Day 2023 on 15 June.

Follow the trail by downloading the free WALKCYCLE4AIR app and answering questions on local landmarks.

Everyone who takes part and registers on the app before 27 August will be entered into a free prize draw and five winners will receive £100 of Halfords vouchers.

The app also contains 13 walking and cycling routes in and around the park and palace grounds.

North and South Lanarkshire Councils launched the trail at Strathclyde Country Park on national Clean Air Day, the UK’s largest campaign on air pollution. This year’s theme is “Clean up our air to look after your mind this #CleanAirDay”.

The campaign focuses on the fact that cleaning up our air not only benefits our physical health and the environment but can also protect our mental and brain health.

“The WALKCYCLE4AIR trail is a fun activity for everyone to take part in this summer, either walking, cycling or wheeling,” Councillor Helen Loughran, Convener of the Environment and Climate Change Committee.

“It’s a great way to learn about local landmarks, enjoy the fresh air and help reduce air pollution by leaving the car at home.”

The app can be downloaded free from Google or Apple Play Stores.

The WALKCYCLE4AIR project is funded by the Scottish Government Air Quality Action Plan, aiming to promote sustainable forms of transportation and improve local air quality in our towns and communities.
