Cumbernauld based Allstar Joinery Ltd and Chapelhall firm DMI Fire & Security have been awarded Gold Accreditation from our Employer Charter for high standards of excellence.

To achieve the prestigious award, employers must be committed to paying all staff the Real Living Wage; employ North Lanarkshire residents; use local businesses in the supply chain where possible; and ensure fair work practices which attract and retain employees.

Businesses which achieve two or more of these commitments receive a bronze, silver or gold accreditation with membership of the charter being free. Allstar Joinery and DMI Fire & Security both achieved all of these commitments to secure the coveted Gold Accreditation.

Allstar Joinery provide a wide range of services including joinery, installations and bespoke fitouts. The company supports projects in a variety of sectors including education, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and banking.

The business offers work experience placements to local school and college students, providing them with valuable insights into the industry. They recently started a work experience program with St. Maurice's High School in Cumbernauld, accommodating 20 work experience pupils for two-week periods throughout the year.

Allstar Joinery recruits an apprentice each year and works closely with local colleges to secure suitable placements for these apprenticeships.

DMI Fire & Security provide tailored fire and security solutions for sectors including commercial premises, offices, public areas, local authorities, hospitals and airports. The company currently employs 52 people and invests in the growth of its team by regularly recruiting apprentices. They work closely with local schools, including Caldervale High School, St. Margaret High School and Fir Park Secondary School to offer work experience opportunities.

Recently, DMI’s community benefits team undertook a week of giving, supporting a different charity each day across Lanarkshire and Glasgow.

Visiting the companies to present them with the awards, North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy said: “Being awarded Gold Accreditation is an excellent achievement for both Allstar Joinery and DMI Fire & Security.

“Both firms are committed to fair employment practices, community involvement and increasing employment and training opportunities. We congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to their continued contribution to the local community."
