An international campaign to reduce violence against women and girls begins on Saturday 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
And North Lanarkshire Council is backing the ‘16 Days of Activism’ campaign, which runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
It was started in 1991 as a platform by individuals and organisations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
As part of this year’s campaign, North Lanarkshire Council is carrying out a pilot survey asking women to share their experiences of safety in Motherwell and Coatbridge.
Posters will be displayed in pubs and nightclubs with QR links to the survey, which only takes about two minutes to complete.
Councillor Sophia Coyle, Chair of the Licensing Board, said: “The survey aims to find out from women of all backgrounds and ages their experiences and concerns about safety in two of our town centres.
“This will help us identify areas for improvement to create a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.”
