Bazooka Arts’ Creative & Connected Carers project, funded by the Carer Breather Fund, has achieved remarkable success, with participants exhibiting their work at the Scottish Parliament and national galleries as part of the Healing Arts Scotland Festival.
This exciting project provided unpaid carers from North Lanarkshire with a therapeutic arts experience, collaborating with professional artists and organizations, including Glasgow Print Studio and Project Ability.
Participants created stunning screenprints titled “Hidden Sanctuary,” inspired by the natural environment. The artwork was featured in high-profile venues such as the National Galleries of Scotland and Tramway, showcasing the powerful connection between art and health.
The exhibition will return to Coatbridge’s Summerlee Museum in October as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, accompanied by participatory workshops. Bazooka Arts continues to offer unpaid carers valuable creative outlets, improving health and well-being through the arts. The project highlights the joy, respite and recognition these carers deserve.
