Provost Kenneth Duffy has urged residents to shop locally this festive season, as part of the national Small Business Saturday campaign on 7 December.

During visits to North Lanarkshire businesses, Provost Duffy got hands-on with some dog grooming and pet retail therapy at Under Dog Pets in Cumbernauld and enjoyed a small sample of delicious cuisine at the newly opened Indian restaurant, Obsession By Shahbaz, in Wishaw.

Provost Duffy said: “Small businesses across North Lanarkshire do so much to support and enhance the character of our area.

“I’d like to encourage our residents to back our high streets and shops throughout the festive season and think about shopping locally for their gifts and services.”

Small Business Saturday is a nationwide campaign celebrating independent traders and retailers that enrich high streets, town centres and villages. It encourages shoppers to support small businesses during the peak holiday season and beyond.

Many local businesses will be marking the day with special promotions and events.
