A new ocean themed play area is open at Strathclyde Country Park, next to the beach car park.
It includes a ship with climbing activities, slides and rope play, an accessible stair to the top deck and low level, inclusive play below decks with hammocks.
There’s also balance beams, springers, a group swing, agility trail, stepping logs and musical chimes, and a range of inclusive play equipment including a wheelchair roundabout, basket swing, seesaw, play panels, a supportive springer and three spinner bowls as well as accessible picnic tables.
A separate toddler zone with a playhouse and 3D shark offers imaginative and inclusive play for the youngest children.
“This play area is a wonderful addition to the facilities at Strathclyde Country Park, and I’m sure will be very popular with families this summer,” said Councillor Helen Loughran, Convener of the Environment and Climate Change Committee.
“Through our Country Parks for the Future programme, the council continues to invest in our parks and greenspaces, creating new opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the natural environment for leisure, play and well-being.”
Councillor Loughran was joined at the park by pupils from Logans Primary School in Motherwell, who were happy to try out the new play area!
