Boost your fitness and help raise vital funds for the Samaritans charity by pulling on your trainers and going running or cycling.
Hundreds of people have already sign-up to take part in a virtual running and cycle event which is taking place in April to raise awareness about suicide prevention. Those taking part will receive a special medal and t-shirt and also get a 'sports goody pack' including a bag, snood and water bottle.
Paul Kelly, Depute Leader of North Lanarkshire Council said: “We are encouraging as many people as possible to take part in this great sporting event which will help highlight our Suicide Prevention campaign and raise money for the Samaritans Charity.
“With spring almost upon us, it’s a good opportunity for people to get outdoors and keep fit and active. Exercise is a good way of boosting both your physical and mental health after what has been a very difficult last twelve months for everyone.
“We want to raise as much awareness as possible about suicide prevention and try to reduce the devastating impact it can have on our communities and this event will help do that.”
Participants will complete their chosen running or cycling distance over the event week either on their own or as part of a team at a location of their choice.
It runs from Monday 19 April 2021, with sign-ups open until Sunday 21 March 2021. A donation from entry fees will be made to the Samaritans.
