The Provost of North Lanarkshire Kenneth Duffy thanks local groups, volunteers and the emergency services supporting vulnerable people in our communities.
He said: “It’s an incredible honour to represent North Lanarkshire as Provost and I wish everyone in our area my best wishes over the Christmas season.
“This year has been another busy one and I’ve enjoyed being out and about meeting people who make such a positive difference in our communities.
“I’ve visited many businesses to award the NL Business Charter mark, which is a major achievement for the organisations and people involved.
“A real highlight was hosting the Provost’s Citizenship Awards which recognise the outstanding contribution that people in our communities make every day.
“In September I was honoured to officially open the Newmains & St Brigid's Community Hub, which is such an outstanding facility and will bring joy to generations of young learners.
“Communities in Chryston and Coatbridge have also benefited from new community hubs opening and work is now underway on a new facility in Orbiston, Bellshill, with work set to start on the new Gartcosh Community Hub in the spring.
“This is also an opportunity for me to pay tribute and thank workers on duty over the festive period, delivering vital services and helping others, including the emergency services, NHS staff, the military, our council staff, and volunteers in charities.
“The festive period can be difficult for many people, especially during these challenging times. I'd like to ask you to look after your friends, neighbours and vulnerable people in our communities.
“Once again, I would like to extend my best wishes to everyone in North Lanarkshire and hope you have a peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year.”
