Outstanding local community organisations and individuals have been recognised through North Lanarkshire’s inaugural Provost’s Citizenship Awards.

The announcement of the 2020 winners was unfortunately delayed due to the health pandemic, but the six winners have now been presented with their awards by Provost Jean Jones.

Local people were asked to nominate individuals or groups deserving of recognition for the outstanding efforts they make to help change and improve the lives of others.

Following a shortlisting process, the winners were:

  • The Health and Wellness Hub
  • Community Action Newarthill
  • Iain Cuthbertson
  • Nichola Brown
  • North Lanarkshire Carers Together
  • Thomas and Mary Rattray

Provost of North Lanarkshire Jean Jones said: “I am really grateful to all the people who took the time to put forward their nominations and a huge congratulations to our winners!

“There are so many individuals and groups making exceptional contributions in our towns and villages and it was really difficult to narrow it down to our deserving winners. So many people put in such tremendous effort to help others and these awards are about helping to recognise that.”

Details about nominations for this year’s awards will be made soon.
