North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy today raised the Ukraine flag at the Civic Centre, Motherwell to mark the one-year anniversary of the invasion of the country by Russia.

“By raising the flag and lighting the Civic Centre blue and yellow, we are showing our support for the people of Ukraine as they continue to face unimaginable horrors as their country is attacked,” he said.

“The council has refurbished 200 properties, supported by Scottish Government funding, to provide accommodation for people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. I would like to thank everyone who has helped us welcome families into our communities and provide them with the care and support they need.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ukrainian people on this sad anniversary."
