Staff and pupils at Drumpark Primary School in Coatbridge are celebrating a very positive school inspection report.

Education Scotland visited the school in April to observe the work of the headteacher and staff, talk to children and parents/carers, and evaluate the school’s progress. Inspectors assessed Drumpark as ‘good’ or ‘very good’ in the four categories of their report.

They identified several strengths in the school’s work, including a positive culture based on school values, children are highly motivated to learn, enjoy caring relationships with staff and each other, and are kind, happy and proud of their achievements and the school as a whole.

The report also highlighted that by participating in pupil action groups, children are building their confidence, achieving success, and developing skills in leadership, sustainability and working with others.

Senior leaders and staff were praised for providing an inclusive environment based strongly on children’s rights and wellbeing. As a result, children feel safe, seek help when required and engage well in learning activities.

Head teacher Gillian Pollock said: “We are delighted with our recent inspection report, following our Education Scotland visit. It highlights the strengths of the school and recognises the hard work and commitment across the school to continued improvement in what has been a period of significant change within Drumpark.

“The report highlights the school’s strong commitment to wellbeing through our school values and children's rights. I would like to thank the inspection team for their valuable professional dialogue, focusing our minds on the continuous improvement of the school.”

The report also identified some actions for the school to take forward and make further progress.

“Congratulations to everyone at Drumpark Primary School on such a positive inspection report,” said Councillor Angela Campbell, Convener of Education, Children and Families Committee.

“This reflects the hard work and dedication of all the staff in creating warm and caring environment for the children where they enjoy learning and develop their confidence and skills.”
