The outstanding achievements of twelve young people have been celebrated at a special employment event at the Volvo Construction's Centre of Excellence in Bellshill.
Parents and employers attended the event to celebrate the achievements of the successful students who completed North Lanarkshire Council’s first ever No Limits training programme.
The programme is designed for young people with additional support needs, and trainees are paid and learn the skills needed to succeed in the world of work, with each trainee benefitting from the support of a job coach from our Supported Enterprise Service.
As part of the programme, the young people, who recently left additional support needs schools in North Lanarkshire, took part in a range of activities to gain skills to take with them into their work experience programme. These activities included outdoor adventure training to develop communication and teamwork skills, training courses, mindfullness sessions and achieving awards.
All of the students, who come from across the area, successfully completed the No Limits programme and are now making their journey into work. From store assistants and signmakers to gardeners and warehouse operatives, a wide range of skills and occupations have been secured.
Donella Duff, Supported Enterprise Manager, said: “I was delighted to be part of this fabulous event which, rightly, recognises the hard work, commitment and dedication of our young people in completing the No Limits programme and entering the workplace.
“I also want to thank the parents and families of our students who are with them every step of the way, to the local businesses who sign up and support our service and to our empoloyment co-ordinator and job coaches who are committed to helping our young people succeed.
“Our service provides vital support to young people who face barriers finding employment and by working with people and businesses across our communities we can change lives and build brighter futures. I would appeal to other local businesses to be part of this exciting programme and contact us and make a difference to the lives and the futures of people in your local community.”
Fourteen new students have started the No Limits programme for 2022-23. We wish them all good luck!
