Work is underway on a new play park in North Motherwell based on designs by local young people.

We worked with young people who had asked for the former Loaning play area in Bute Avenue to be reinstated, as well as residents and a local nursery, to develop a new Ravenscraig themed design.

It includes a multi-towered activity centre with climbing areas, slides, a rope walkway, multi seesaw, play panels, spinners, rockers and swings.

There will also be a range of inclusive play equipment including a wheelchair roundabout, basket swing, seesaw, trampoline, play panels, a supportive springer and spinner bowls as well as accessible picnic tables and seating.

A separate toddler zone offers and inclusive play for the youngest children.

One of the young people who asked for the play area to be created is Orlagh Donnelly. She said: “I am very happy about the play park finally being built and it having play equipment for all ages from toddlers to teens. This will be great for all kids in the area giving them enjoyment of being outdoors and making memories with friends and family.”
