Children in Gartlea are celebrating the opening of a brand-new play area on Gartleahill, Airdrie.
This exciting space offers a variety of fun and play opportunities for local families.
Councillor Woods, Convener of the Communities Committee, officially opened the play area, joined by pupils from St Edward’s Primary & Nursery and Tollbrae Primary.
Councillor Woods said: "It’s fantastic to see local children enjoying this wonderful new play area. Outdoor play is so important, and this space will allow young people to have fun and stay active."
As part of the project, pupils from local primary schools also participated in a ‘Design a Sign’ competition for the play area.
The winners will be announced soon. The winning design will be turned into a sign and installed in the park.
The pupils are also helping to take care of the space by organising litter picks, making sure it remains an excellent place for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
The £100,000 project was funded by the North Lanarkshire Council’s Local Development Programme and the Scottish Government Play Park Renewal Fund to create a high-quality play area for the community.
