Spruce Court within the Orbiston Street Industrial Estate is now home to 14 units which will be let to local businesses, with one unit being provided free to New College Lanarkshire as part of an entrepreneurial start-up scheme. The units range in size to suit different business needs, and have toilet facilities and access to electricity, gas, phone lines and internet connection.

The high quality industrial development includes parking with two electric vehicle charging points, CCTV and landscaped areas.

The £3 million regeneration project was funded by North Lanarkshire Properties, North Lanarkshire Council and the Scottish Government’s Vacant and Derelict Land Fund and Regeneration Capital Grant Fund.

“We know from listening to the business community that there’s a demand for good quality, affordable rented accommodation for industrial companies,” said Councillor Ian McNeil, Chair of North Lanarkshire Properties Ltd.

“By transforming a derelict site, we have been able to bring more employment and industry into Motherwell, and feedback from our tenants is very positive. The location is ideal for transport links and is close to the town centre to access local services and facilities.”

“The council’s business support team and Business Gateway Lanarkshire offer a range of services for businesses across North Lanarkshire, from start-ups to large operations, including webinars and training, access to expert advice on topics like finance, HR, marketing and recruitment, and funding."
