Working with people and local organisations within our communities is vital to ensuring we fulfil our ambition to make North Lanarkshire the place to Live, Learn, Work, Invest, and Visit.  And one of the ways we’re empowering residents is through our Community Boards.

Nine Community Boards have been established across the area: Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Motherwell, Wishaw, Kilsyth, Shotts and the Northern Corridor, and dates for the next board meetings have now been set.

Our boards allow people and communities to play a crucial role in shaping the decisions that will affect them and where they live. And some of the items on the agenda for discussion at the next meetings include, Digital NL and up-dates from community planning partners such as Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue.

Due to the pandemic we can’t meet in person, so our meetings are taking place via Webex with representatives of community groups and organisations, such as community councils and tenants/residents associations, taking part. You can ask your representative to raise your views at the meeting, or if you are interested in attending please contact communitymatters@northlan.gov.uk.  All board meetings are live streamed on our YouTube channel and you can also send comments or questions during the meeting via email.

We’re keen for local residents to find out more about our plans and help us shape these to ensure they meet the individual needs of their areas. Our Community Boards provide a great opportunity to get involved.”
