Pentland pupils are celebrating their first day in their new school building, which opened its doors for the first time this week.
The new school, which is based within the St Ambrose and Buchanan High Schools campus in Coatbridge, has been designed to provide a modern learning environment for pupils.
The Head Teacher of Pentland School, Laura McFarlane, expressed her delight at the opening of the new building, saying,
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our pupils to this fantastic new school. It will give us access to some of the fabulous facilities within the wider campus, such as the joint playing fields.
“We will be able to build stronger links with Buchanan and St Ambrose High schools, as well as having easier access to the nearby Skills Academy.
“Today is just the start of a new chapter in the history of our school and we are keen to involve pupils and parents/carers in future developments.”
Councillor Angela Campbell, Convener of Education, Children and Families said, "It's wonderful to hear about the pupils being so excited to be there on their first day.
“We have worked closely with the school to ensure that the new building provides the best possible opportunities for our pupils, and I'm confident that it will help to support their learning and development."
The new school building has been constructed as part of a wider programme of investment in Additional Support Needs (ASN) education facilities across the area, with a focus on providing high-quality learning environments for all pupils.
Councillor Campbell concluded: “I’d like to congratulate the school on their new building and wish the pupils and staff every success in their new home.”
