Our ongoing drive to improve community safety for residents has been given a boost thanks to the purchase of a new piece of CCTV equipment.

The redeployable CCTV trailer can be set up in mobile or semi-permanent locations and helps capture or deter crimes such as anti-social behaviour or vandalism.

Councillor Kenneth Stevenson, Convener of the Communities Committee, welcomed the news saying: “We work in partnership with Police Scotland to enhance community safety as a priority, and we’ll use the cameras to target specific hot-spot areas across all nine of our community board areas."

Councillor Michael McPake, Convener of Housing, added: “We can target specific areas, with the flexibility of being able to move the system to new locations as requirements change.”

The new camera was funded through North Lanarkshire Council’s Communities Team, Local Development Programme and Housing solutions.
