Motherwell by-election – voter registration deadline

Residents in the Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig ward are reminded to make sure they are registered to vote ahead of the by-election next month. 

To be able to vote in this by-election, eligible residents must be registered to vote by 12 midnight on Tuesday 31 October.

Registration only takes a few minutes online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote - you only need your National Insurance number and date of birth.  

When you’re registered, you can vote either in person at a polling station or by post or proxy. To arrange for a postal or proxy vote, go to www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter 

Applications for new postal votes, postal proxy votes and amendments to, or cancellation of, existing postal or existing proxy votes must be with the Electoral Registration Office by 5.00pm on Wednesday 1 November. Applications for new proxy votes must be received by 5.00pm on Wednesday 8 November.

The by-election takes place on Thursday 16 November with polling places open between 7.00am and 10.00pm.
