Four local businesses have been recognised by our Employer Charter initiative.

Anderson Caledonia, The Antibody Company and The Power Within Training & Development were awarded the silver accreditation and WH & R McCartney received the bronze award.

The charter is based around four commitments by employers: to pay all staff the Real Living Wage; employ North Lanarkshire residents; use local businesses in the supply chain where possible; and ensure fair work practices which attract and retain employees.

Businesses which achieve two or more of these commitments receive a bronze, silver or gold accreditation. Membership of the charter is free.

North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy presented the companies with their awards, saying: “Congratulations to everyone involved on their achievements in operating responsible businesses that support their employees and make a positive commitment to North Lanarkshire and the local economy.

“Our Employer Charter offers clear benefits for both employers and employees and is designed to increase employment and training opportunities for residents and provide support to businesses.”

Andersen Caledonia in Bellshill provides a range of microbiological analyses to provide pathology diagnoses, healthcare assurances and equipment validation. This includes qPCR swab analysis, qPCR water analysis, culture methods for TVC and named pathogens and the supply and testing of periodic validation kits for healthcare equipment.

The Antibody Company in Chapelhall is a specialist contract manufacturing company with expertise in the production, downstream processing and conjugation of monoclonal antibodies for research, diagnostics and preclinical therapeutics.

The Power Within Training & Development Ltd, based at Eurocentral, is a training and development company that works with individuals, businesses and organisations to support people to create and help build environments they can thrive.

Located in Motherwell, WH & R McCartney is Scotland’s oldest independent insurance broker. The business was set up in 1932 by two brothers who chose financial services as a career over coal mining.
