Following a recent inspection by Education Scotland, Kirkshaws Primary School and Nursery Class in Coatbridge has been commended for its strong relationships between staff, pupils and families.
The report highlighted the school's nurturing environment, noting that children feel valued and respected. Inspectors also praised the pupils’ positive attitudes and engagement with learning.
The newly appointed headteacher's leadership was recognised as a key factor in improving teaching and assessment across the school.
Megan McCrossan, head teacher of Kirkshaws, said: "We are pleased with the recognition of our school's strengths, particularly the relationships we have built within our community. We are committed to building on this and ensuring the best possible learning experiences for our children."
Inspectors recommended enhancing the nursery and P1 learning environment to encourage greater independence and creativity.
Additionally, staff were urged to provide more opportunities for pupils to take ownership of their learning and refine assessment strategies to track progress more accurately.
