Pupils and staff at Kilsyth Primary were celebrating after plans to create a modern new multi-use games area (MUGA) at the school were announced
Children have been asked what new facilities they would like to see to replace the current blaes pitch adjacent to the school.
They said they were extremely positive about the development and that they would like to see basketball, netball, tennis and football facilities developed as well as a new running track.
Provost Jean Jones, a former pupil at the school, welcomed the news: “These proposals sound really exciting and will be welcomed by everyone at the school and the wider community.
“Staff from the council are working closely with Kilsyth Kids Club as well as the school’s playground committee and the active schools co-ordinator to ensure we deliver facilities that local people want, and which brings lasting benefits for years to come.”
Jacquie Pearce, Acting Depute Head of Kilsyth Primary School, added: “We are delighted at the news that we will soon have MUGA in this part of the town. It is not only great for the school, but it will also be a facility that can be used by the wider community including the after-school club.
“The children are very excited at the prospect of having a MUGA and the playground committee have been involved in its design.
“They have been responsible for speaking to the classes and getting their feedback about the sports facilities they would like to have included.”
A full specification is now being drawn up and the contract will be awarded later this year.
