We are delivering key improvements on the A73 Carlisle Road at the junctions of Petersburn Road and Brownsburn Road, in partnership with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.
A feasibility study to assess traffic impacts, pedestrian connectivity, road safety and engineering requirements was carried out. Following this, a new junction layout was developed.
The initial works are underway to upgrade the footpath link between Carlisle Road and the Minch Way bus stop. When these are complete, the A73 Carlisle Road improvements will start on 10 July for approximately ten weeks.
These works will include:
- a new mini roundabout on Carlisle Road at the Petersburn Road junction;
- a new puffin crossing on Carlisle Road, south of Brownsburn Road;
- footway and carriageway resurfacing at Carlisle Road, Petersburn Road and Brownsburn Road junctions;
- utility diversion and protection works; and
- street lighting upgrades.
During the works, traffic will be managed using manually controlled temporary traffic signals, with road closures being implemented to complete the final work elements. Any closures will be phased and programmed to minimise disruption to the road network.
A letter has been sent to properties in the surrounding area informing them of the work.
