The building, which previously housed Wishawhill Community Centre, has been completely transformed as part of the council’s ambitious 1,140-hour Early Years and Childcare programme.

It can accommodate up to 40 children daily in a bright, welcoming and nurturing environment.

Provost Duffy said: “The new Heathery Park Family Learning Centre is a fantastic new community resource, which will benefit families for years to come. It is a first-class resource, where young children can develop and grow.

“It was a real honour to declare the new centre open and I wish all the families and staff associated with it my very best wishes for the future.”

The refurbishment included internal and external renovations, such as external wall insulation, roof, windows, bathroom and kitchen upgrades, and an air-sourced heating system.

The building and garden areas are loved by staff, parents and children alike. The new family learning centre will be staffed by seven qualified and experienced staff who will provide a safe, nurturing environment for local children.
