School inspectors have praised staff and pupils at St. Edward’s Primary School, Airdrie, following a glowing inspection, recognising the supportive and positive nurturing ethos and learning environment across the school and the nursery class.
Several strengths were identified including the very positive and respectful relationships fostered and the well-embedded values of respect, honesty, self-belief, and kindness which reflect well the school’s strong Catholic identity.
Also recognised was the very strong progress the children were making in literacy and numeracy across the school and their development of skills through a wide variety of leadership opportunities available.
Inspectors praised the headteacher’s highly effective leadership, and the commitment and dedication of all staff and partners, to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.
Headteacher, Siobhan Egan, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our fabulous inspection report. It reflects the dedication and hard work of our staff and pupils across the school and nursery. We are extremely proud of everyone involved.”
Councillor Angela Campbell, Convener of Education, Children and Families, added: “I’d like to congratulate everyone associated with the school; staff, students, parents and carers and the local community on a successful inspection report.
“One of the areas highlighted by the inspectors was the staff’s very strong knowledge of children and their families, which helps them to support and meet the social and emotional wellbeing needs of the school community effectively.
“It’s so pleasing to see children thrive in their learning environment and I wish them every success for the future.”
