HSBC Bank and Doble Engineering (part of ESCO Technologies Inc) are the latest global companies to invest in North Lanarkshire.

Maxim Park at Eurocentral is now home to Doble Engineering’s Scottish Research and Design base. A leader in power grid diagnostic solutions, the company will carry out power utility product design from their new 3,244 sq ft suite, working with Doble’s main offices in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

HSBC will lease nearly 55,000 sqft of office space at Maxim over three floors from next year.  The deal represents one of the largest and most significant office lettings to be transacted in Scotland in recent years.

Doble Engineering looked at 19 properties in and around Glasgow before choosing Eurocentral for its location 20 minutes from Glasgow and 40 minutes from Edinburgh, as well as other factors including quality of the facilities and cost. The accommodation will allow the company to meet the needs of its portfolio of clients as it expands.

“This is a significant development for North Lanarkshire’s economy, bringing high quality jobs and two more major companies to the area,” said Councillor Alex McVey, Convener of the Enterprise and Fair Work Committee.

“Maxim Park is ideally located at the heart of Scotland, with excellent transport and active travel links and close to housing, schools, leisure facilities and local town centres for the staff working there.

“The council provides comprehensive support to businesses looking to locate in North Lanarkshire by helping identify suitable premises, help with recruitment, business grants and expert advice.

“HSBC and Doble Engineering’s location in North Lanarkshire are further examples of our reputation as a prime location for business and industry.”

Ernie Grella, Chief Technology Officer at Doble Engineering, said: “Following the success of this work, we needed to expand, so establishing this new product design office at Maxim Park marks an exciting milestone for us, underscoring our commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our customers.

“Maxim Park provides an ideal location for our talented engineers to thrive, and to continue to grow our team. We look forward to making Maxim Park our home in Scotland as we develop cutting edge electrical testing systems for the global power utility industry.”

Doble is part of the Utility Solutions Group of ESCO Technologies Inc.

Earlier this year, Barratt Developments announced plans to relocate its West Scotland team to Maxim Park from Stepps, and other recent new tenants include LumiraDX, Aureum Diagnostics, TClarke, Linear Group and Sartorius.
