A three-day festival of cycling takes place at Strathclyde Country Park from 26 to 28 May.

Strathclyde Cycle Fest offers everyone a chance to try out cycling of all types, from the skills and tricks of BMXing to learning to ride for the first time – and all the activities are free!

On the Friday from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, there’s a drop-in BMX session at the pumptrack at Bellshill Gateway. Bring your own bike or borrow one when you arrive. Local cycling groups will also be showing off their skills in demonstrations.

Then, between 11.00am and 2.00pm on the Saturday and Sunday, cycling sessions will be run by Socialtrack, Getting Better Together, Dr Bike, Play on Pedals and others at the foreshore events area and Bellshill Gateway.

Visitors can also enjoy a cycle to see the active travel links between the park and surrounding communities. Drop-in bicycle maintenance services will be provided by our Restorative Justice service and food and drink outlets run by Big Feed will be on site over the three days.

During the weekend, three guided walks will be led by Get Walking Lanarkshire and the park’s Countryside Rangers.

Cycle Fest is funded by the council, EventScotland, Cycling Scotland and the Community Cycling Fund.

The event aims to showcase the first-class facilities created by the council in the park last year, including a pump track, trials bike area, mountain bike skills loops and trails linked to learn to ride areas by an upgraded active travel route.
