Provost Kenneth Duffy presented a cheque for £700 to the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust after elected members from across North Lanarkshire raised money to support the vital work of the charity.
The independent charity provides volunteer cars and drivers to take cancer patients to hospital appointments, clinics and day-care facilities. They support people who do not have transport of their own and who find it difficult to cope with prolonged ambulance transport.
Provost Duffy said: “I was delighted to present this cheque to Pat Murray the Chairperson of the Trust after the fantastic fundraising efforts of my fellow councillors at the Provost’s Christmas jumper day.
“The drivers and volunteers provide a crucial role in helping vulnerable people in our communities and we were pleased to be able to support them.”
