Young people from our secondary schools have enjoyed an insight into careers in civil engineering and construction management.
In partnership with industry experts Morgan Sindall, the employment engagement session for senior school pupils was organised by the council's vocational education team to help showcase the employment opportunities in these sectors.
Melissa Fraser, Vocational Education Coordinator explained: “The session consisted of industry leading experts including Stuart Parker, Morgan Sindall’s Managing Director in Scotland providing an insight into the career pathways available within the construction and engineering sectors.
“Our aspiring young people learned how they could achieve their ambitions within the industry through a variety of different pathways, including through further education, foundation, modern and graduate apprenticeships.
“We have also developed an exciting partnership model which will give some of our foundation apprentices the chance to take on summer work placement with Morgan Sindall and allow them to work on local developments here in North Lanarkshire.”
“This partnership approach is supporting our workforce for the future by providing the next generation with careers, education and employability. The aim is to inspire and inform our young people around the many careers and opportunities within the Construction and Engineering industry and provide them with the educational tools, support and real-life experiences needed to give them a head start in gaining job opportunities.”
