Death of former councillor Joe Gorman

Former North Lanarkshire councillor Joseph Gorman has died aged 83.

Mr Gorman was elected to North Lanarkshire Council in 1999 and again in 2003 for the Mossend West and Thorndean ward.

Provost Jean Jones said: “Mr Gorman gave many years public service and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.”

He served on various committees including planning.  

Mr Gorman was born in Mossend and was a prominent member of the local Lithuanian community.

Mr Gorman is survived by a wife Agnes, daughter’s Carol Anne and Elaine and a son Joseph. He also leaves six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
