Date for by-election in Murdostoun council ward

A by-election will be held in the Murdostoun council ward on Thursday 24 June following the death of Councillor Robert McKendrick.

One councillor will be elected for Electoral Ward 20.

Voting will take place between 7.00am and 10.00pm.

To be able to vote in this by-election, eligible residents must be registered to vote by 12 midnight on Tuesday 8 June.

Applications for new postal or postal proxy votes and amendments to, or cancellation of, existing postal or proxy votes must be with the Electoral Registration Office by 5.00pm on Wednesday 9 June. Applications for new proxy votes must be received by 5.00pm on Wednesday 16 June.

“To have a say in this by-election, you must make sure you are registered to vote,” said Returning Officer Des Murray.

“It only takes a few minutes now to register online – you just need your national insurance number and date of birth.”
