We are hosting an exhibition in Cumbernauld Library highlighting ideas for the town centre as part of our investment and regeneration programme.
As well as giving a brief history of Cumbernauld, the exhibition will show concept designs and give residents and businesses an opportunity to highlight their needs and demands for the future use of the town centre.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday 26 August until the end of September during the library’s normal business hours:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 9am to 5pm
- Tuesday and Thursday – 9am to 7pm
- Saturday – 10am to 5pm
The exhibition will be manned by council officers at various times for residents and businesses to ask questions and provide their views.
We are currently talking to businesses about their future requirements for the town centre.
“We want Cumbernauld to be a greener, vibrant, welcoming and safe town centre with contemporary open space and accessible, mixed-use buildings where people can live and socialise and businesses can thrive,” said Council Leader Jim Logue.
“Our long-term investment programme will transform the town centre’s role in the community and how it is used by residents and businesses. The wider regeneration plans will have a significant impact on Cumbernauld town centre and will take a number of years to bring to fruition but it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a multi-use town centre that focuses on sustainable urban living.”
