We are proud to announce the council has achieved the prestigious Ministry of Defence (MOD), Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award.
This top-tier accolade reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community in line with the Armed Forces Covenant. The ERS Gold Award is the highest recognition for employer organisations that go above and beyond in their support for defence personnel, veterans and their families.
Councillor Bob Burgess, Armed Forces Champion, said: “This achievement highlights the council's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for those who serve our country and sets a strong example for other organisations to follow.
“We are incredibly proud, and this recognition reflects our commitment and support to the men and women who serve or have served in the Armed Forces.
“As proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, we are focused on helping members of the Armed Forces Community to access the same support and services as everyone else. This support includes help with areas including education, financial advice, housing, employment opportunities, careers advice, and health and wellbeing.
“We remain committed to ensuring that the values of the Armed Forces Covenant are deeply embedded within its practices, benefiting both employees and the wider community.”
A formal awards ceremony to recognise the council’s achievements will take place at Edinburgh Castle on Thursday, 31 October.
